You have probably heard of the game Bakugan. And if you had no idea what it was or only heard of it through casual conversation, then you probably want to know more about it. This guide is written at the very basic level for the beginner.

Starting the game is easy. It takes anywhere from two to four players to play Bakugan at one time. Before starting, each player picks a minimum deck of three Bakugan Brawlers. Three extra cards are picked and used throughout the game play. The players can hold more cards and brawlers, but no player can have more cards than the other. Each player must have an equal amount of cards when starting the game.

The Bakugan Brawler Battle Begins:

At the start of the game each player is closed up or in “Sphere Mode” The player will only be in an open position if they are rolled onto a metal card correctly. At that time the player’s card will open and Battle Mode will begin. The G-Power rating of the Brawler will be visible in “battle mode”. Now the next player to roll onto the same card you are on will match you in battle. This is where the battle begins. Each card contacts its own G-Power Boost. The Boost is what determines whether you increase in power or decrease in power. The player with the lower G-Power rating loses. It is similar to all those games that use “hit points”  in a battle.

The Bakugan Card

Bakugan Command card: This card indicate what needs to be done. Instructions on the card guide the player. Commands are different on each card.

Bakugan Normal cardThis card contains the G-Points which govern what you gain or lose depending on specific Bakugan attributes. The points are located in sector bubbles on the side of the card.

Bakugan Character CardsThese cards contain the name of a specific Bakugan Brawler. A Bakugan can land on a matching character card to double their G-Points in the game.

Each metal card has a G-power boost rating. On the left hand side of the metal card is the area that will determine the amount of the boost based on color of the Brawler that lands on the card.

Holo Sector Point or HSO represent the number of points won if you capture this card. Holo Section Points or HSOs are located on the card.

Bakugan Battle Area:

Place a card face down on the side closest to your opponent forming a rectangle on the battle field. Each player continues to place cards down until a battle field is created. You will know when the battle field is complete when the cards form a rectangle.

Bakugan Shot Spot

What is a shot spot? A shot spot is given to you for the entire game. The spot is created when each player takes their remaining cards and measure the distance from their opponents card which was placed closest. Now the shot spot has been created.

Let Us Battle!

Now it is time to choose who will take the lead and start first. Turns are taken from their shooting spot. Turns cannot  be skip if the player has Bakugan cards still in their hands.

How To Win?

  • All Bakugan cards are gone.
  • Points for the  Holo Sector Points (HSP) for cards won during the game have been added up.
  • All players who won a bakugan from their opponent get an extra 100 HSP.
  • Players with Bakugan remaining get an additional 100 HSP as well.

Those with the most points are considered the winner of the game. I hope you enjoyed this very high level overview of the game. There are more advanced strategies and game play available for those that want more in-depth information.
